Temple Baptist Church is happy to announce and eager to offer an opportunity to show God's love to others in our community in a tangible and simple way. While our Grow Ministry is mostly an outreach to newcomers to our church; "Acts of Kindness" (AOK Ministry) is simply that - acts of kindness to let others know we care and appreciate them.
On Thursday, October 3rd at 9:30 am, the first group of volunteers met in the fellowship hall (cookie trays in hand) to pray and fellowship as they wrote note cards to shut-ins and some folks we haven't seen in a while. We delivered cookies to the Hermitage Fire House and the Hermitage Police Department as well. Maybe we should have called it the "Cookies and Cards" ministry? However, our goal entails more than cookies and cards. We will be visiting nursing homes (and more) wanting to share the Gospel as God allows along with those cookies.
Our next mission is slated for October 31st delivering "treats" instead of tricks to a nursing home in Hermitage. We welcome any who can offer to join with us in ministry, either by time or contribution of cookies, candy, greeting cards (themed or blank), or even postage. Any way that you can participate with "AOK" to say "you are my neighbor and God wants you to know you are loved", is welcomed!
Thanks to all who came out on the 3rd. Thanks to Geri Ray for responding to the Holy Spirit's leading to head this up. Contact the church office for more info or come on Sunday and find Geri Ray.
