Missions Ministry

"Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age."  Matthew 28:19-20

Missions education is a vital part of Temple Baptist Church.  Through missions our children, youth and adults are personally involved in the efforts around the world of sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ.  We encourage our members to experience missions by providing hands-on mission opportunities. We realize that all cannot go; however, all can be involved by praying and giving.

Mission Friends

Preschoolers through Kindergarten can learn about missions too! Children - ages 3 through Kindergarten are welcome in Mission Friends.  Age appropriate activities guide preschoolers to begin to understand that God loves everyone, sends helpers called missionaries and that they, too, can be His helpers.  Mission Friends is a foundation for future generations of missionaries called by God to spread the Good News of His Son, Jesus.  This program is offered on Wednesday nights at 6:15 to 7:15 pm.

Temple Baptist Church has been called to carry the light of Jesus to people in a spiritural darkness across the globe.  We support by giving to the Cooperative Program, the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering, and the Annie Armstrong Easter Offering along with other local programs-the Tennessee Children's Homes and the Christian Community Center in Old Hickory, to help dispel that darkness-so that all peoples may know Him.

Cooperative Program

The Cooperative Program is an agreement among Southern Baptist churches, Baptist state conventions and fellowships, and the Southern Baptist Convention to work together in Great Commission ministries.

It is a financial channel of cooperation through which mission dollars are combined into a unified budget supporting the Southern Baptist missionary, education, and benevolent ministries in each state, the nation, and throughout the world.

The Cooperative Program makes it possible for individuals and churches to do something about fulfilling the Great Commission (Matthew 28:19-20) across the street and around the world.  Through the Cooperative Program, the mission of a single church is extended to ministries for the needy, the sick, the aged, and the lost, as well as the support of about 11,000 North American and international missionaries.

Lottie Moon

"How many millions more souls are to pass into eternity without having heard the name of Jesus?"

That question, ubiquitous in the letters of Lottie Moon, seared her heart as she planted her life as a missionary to China a century ago.  Today, we are a part of the support of 5,193 missionaries on the field, and the annual missions offering named for Lottie Moon for a substantial $150 million.  What would Lottie think?  Would she, citing the 1.6 billion who live precariously in unreached areas, challenge us once again: "How many million more souls are to pass into eternity without having heard the name of Jesus?" Annie Armstrong

The Annie Armstrong Easter Offering for North American Missions focuses on Southern Baptist mission efforts in the United States and Canada.

Named in honor of Annie Armstrong who served as a missionary in Baltimore, this offering helps support the work of more than 5,000 North American missionaries.  These missionaries serve through Baptist centers, languages ministries, church planting, resorts and inner cities.  The offering is traditionally featured near Easter each year.  For more information about Annie Armstrong go to: www.anniearmstrong.com

Tennessee Baptist Children's Homes

The Tennessee Baptist Children's Homes, a non-profit organization founded in 1891, is a ministry of the churches of the Tennessee Baptist Convention.  Our purpose is the same today as it was when we were founded, to provide a stable family environment for children.  For more information about the Tennessee Baptist Children's Homes go to: http://www.tbch4kids.org
